Mary Haines

We joined Canal Ministries while we were continuous cruisers on our narrowboat, Naomhog, which we very much enjoyed. However, last year I felt God leading us to sell the boat, reassuring us that we could still serve actively as part of the Canal Ministries team.

I also serve as a Canal Ministries Trustee, so I very much feel that God is calling us to continue our involvement with the waterways.

This year we are helping with the Burnley Mission, running a First Aid course at the St Pancras Cruising Club (SPCC) in London, and assisting with both the BCF Annual Gathering in September and the Canal Ministries Conference in January 2027. We are also exploring the possibility of working alongside another Canal Ministries team member who shares my heart for bereavement support.

As members of SPCC, we have ministry opportunities in central London and hope to raise the profile of Canal Ministries, including through joint initiatives with the Waterways Chaplaincy, as one of their team is also a member of SPCC.

I am excited to see where God leads us next.
