Steve Burt

I came to faith through the Cardiff Brethren Youth Camps aged 13. After a few years studying accountancy at Exeter University, I returned to Cardiff with my lovely new wife, Fiona, to raise our three children. Initially, I joined Price Waterhouse, where I qualified as a Chartered Accountant, but soon progressed into management finance and then business management. I now run my own company supporting entrepreneurs and business start-ups.

Like many, Covid resulted in much of my workload moving online and this meant that living on a narrowboat on the canal network became viable. Leaving our church responsibilities and community behind, we sought a ‘spiritual reset’ and discovered a gift and a passion for sharing the gospel. My wife and I joined Canal Ministries in 2025 and take every opportunity as ‘crew’ to talk about Jesus with those who invite us to. Canal Ministries has been a great support in this and so I was delighted to be invited to use my expertise as a charity trustee of Impact Giving (a Christian Clearing House) and the James Williams Trust (providing small grants to fund Christian work in Wales) and my leadership and board experience to support the charity.
